Is radical or militant atheism as bad as fundamentalist religion?
I think so. Fundamentalist religious people are well known for their rejection of people who don't think or feel the same way they do, and what I have found out myself is that hardcore atheists act exactly the same way. Militant atheists tend to consider anybody who believe in God as crazy, deluded, mentally retarded, "Christ psychotics" , and many more derogatory insults, and the irony of all is that they think that they are smarter and mentally sane.
I'd say that people who tend to think they are smarter than the majority of the population are usually the ones who are not that smart really. We see that there are people confined in psychiatric asylums who do they think of themselves as "mentally sane" and the "outside world is deluded and crazy", just like these hardcore atheists do, like Richard Dawkins for example who think that people who believe in God are deluded.
On the other hand we have the fundamentalist religious people, who murder and kill innocent people in the name of God, we have this clan known as The Phelps, who hate homosexuals and lesbians and say that they all are going to hell. We have Muslims who commit Jihads and kill thousands of innocent human beings in the name of Allah, and we could continue to go on and on and on.
I'd say that radical atheists and fundamentalist religious people are in the same coin, just in opposite sides of it.
Being both sides harmful for one's physical and mental health.
Extremes are never good, nor healthy nor progressive. Both extremes, are a danger for society's well being.
This is my opinion, what's yours?
