Image via WikipediaMichael Phelps wins the Men's 400m Individual Medley event in Beijing, getting his first out of 8 individual gold medals he has promised himself to bring to the US. It was an exciting race since he went so fast across the pool, so fast that he erased his own world record he had set last June 29 at the US trials of 4 min 05:25 seconds. His time this Sunday morning was 4 min 03:84 seconds. He admitted that he surprised himself with this new record.
There is no doubt that Michael Phelps is a great athlete!
"It hurt a lot more than I thought it would," the 23-year-old Phelps said. "I'm almost shocked that I went that fast."

He's a strong athlete and I'm sure he'll complete his goal.
He is so amazing in the water! His butterfly stroke is so perfect and smooth, that looks like his best stroke. He is really prepared for this Olympics and looks like he is having fun. That is what it is all about, having fun.(Winning doesn't hurt either!)

I just love Michael Phelps. He is truely what an athlete should be like. Having fun at doing what you love to do and then being the best and being so humble. You got to love it when they smashed the French. It was so exciting.

He made Six golds at the 2004 Olympics. Seven golds at the 2007 Worlds. Michael Phelps will enter eight races in Beijing within reach of multiple records, including most career Olympic golds (9) and most golds at a single Games (7).
And now Phelps wins 400m, takes gold and breaks his own world record in the 400m IM.
