Christian Vande Velde, captain of the Garmin-Slipstream cycling team, couldn't avoid a crash and tried to continue but the pain was unbearable. He had to be taken away in an ambulance.I hope he recovers soon.

Great finish by Alessandro Petacchi today in the Giro d'Italia! Kept us all excited and with our hearts pumping to the max.
Petacchi wear the maglia rosa. Mark Cavendish just to weak at the end and couldn't keep up. Lost time and the pink jersey.
