PHOTO by Will MathewsYes, Lance Armstrong did it again after 1870 days from his last professional cycling victory, back when he won his last Tour de France in 2005. He won the 2009 Nevada City Classic on Sunday, June 21.
“What a great race. It was hard. And the crowds? Electric. The last celebration lap, people were running in the streets. This definitely makes my father’s day.” ~Lance Armstrong said to reporters.
“Of course it’s ironic that we have worked so hard to secure media exposure over the years, largely in vain, and are now getting an overwhelming amount of attention with Lance here. But that’s how it works and we’re naturally delighted about it.” ~ Duane Strawser, President of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce commented.

ReplyDeleteI guees Lance is now ready for the big tour, man. Well done, Lance!
ReplyDeleteEven though the Nevada Cycling Classic is a one day race, it's quite difficult because it has many steep hill and it requires of sprinting abilities. It's great that Lance got this one.
ReplyDeleteThe Nevada City Classic is considered the oldest bicycle race in the West!

ReplyDelete"What a great race. It was hard. And the crowds? Electric." Lance
ReplyDeleteRESPECT!
Go Lance!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reporting on this. Aweseome!
ReplyDeleteI think that he needs to lose a little bit of weight if he wants to do well in the Alps. Maybe about 5 or 6 pounds. He looks a bit heavier than 5 years ago. IMO
ReplyDeleteFrezza, he'll lose those 3-4 pounds the first week of the tour de france. I did notice that too, that's what being away from pro cycling for 3 and a half years do to your body.
ReplyDeleteLance overweight!!!???
ReplyDeleteI hope you never get to know me then. If you think he's fat, then you are going call me a whale. And I'm only 7 pounds over my ideal weight!
I think Lance looks great and well fit!
What an awesome win and awesome photo! I am so looking forward to the Le Tour!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe thing is that to be able to climb the Alps the way he did it before he NEEDS to get rid of all the extra fat, even if it's 1 less pound, that would help him to climb faster. Grams count. That's why the lighter the bicycle the better for the pros.
ReplyDeleteI was just kidding with Frezza and Realist, Mish.
ReplyDeleteI do think he looks great but he needs to shed 3 or 4 pounds.
The less weight you carry when your racing, the faster you are.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome win and awesome photo! I am so looking forward to the Le Tour!!!!
