Filippo Pozzato Only God Can Judge Me

This is new to me. I did know that Filippo Pozzato was and still is a great cyclist, but I didn't know that he likes writing and that he likes body tattooing.
His writing is very down to earth, I mean, he is not pretentious at all and thanks CyclingNews for letting him write articles for them. I wish him the best as a blog writer and look forward to read more about his experiences, thoughts and knowledge as a cyclist and human being.

This is what I learned from his article:
"Of course some people think we should still live like the riders in Fausto Coppi's era did. They lived like monks and only thought about riding their bikes but they also raced for 400km and knew little about modern day physiology."

Interesting. Fausto Coppi was the first cyclist ever to win a double the same year. He won the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France in 1949 and became a hero worldwide. He was known as "the Heron", because he had long long legs.
Can you imagine any of us biking 400 km on one of Coppi's bikes? Not me!

Respect to Fausto Coppi's memory and respect to Filippo Pozzato for enlighten us with his words of cycling knowledge.

Just one thing I didn't like, the gigantic tatoo on his back. But hey, it's his body, he can do whatever he pleases with it.

Agreed....Ugh! Tattoos are self inflicted scars and the most off putting thing I ever see in a person.

I have never seen any tattoo that looked attractive. You will acquire enough body mutilations naturally over your lifetime. Why would you do it deliberately? Then having them put in locations where you can't even see them, is even more ignorant.

    H. L. Menken was right. "No one ever lost money underestimating the taste of the American Public." What is sad is so much of the rest of the world imitates them.

    Words of wisdom :)

I wouldn't be able to bike 400 km on an electrical bike!

  6. I know one rider with our club who rode accross Australia. Some othe riders are doing the Lands End to John O'Groats later in the year. It takes a lot of training and hard work, but it is a major achievement. Respect due.

As for the Tats. I think that, given the choice, the American artists are generally better than the British. British artists tend to be quite heavy with the black. Looking at some of the Tattooists, like Ami James and Chris Garver, from Miami inc, or Kat Von D from LA, you begin to understand that tattoos are more than self mutilation depicting dancing girls and anchors (OK Kat Von D is into the dancing girls, 1940s stuff). They also represent chapters in peoples life.

If you watch Miami inc, you see a few people walking in to get a tattoo that chomemorates a loved one - father, child. Some of the portraits are pretty awsome. The tattoo is therefore used as a part of the greiving process and helps people cope with loss. Other tattoos are to commemorate happy events, like the birth of a child or a wedding.

Some people just collect art, except without the picture frame and gallery.

The thing that I like about mountain bikers is that we are a forgiving and laid back lot. So if somebody wants to wear a tattoo, that is their busness and I am quite happy with that.

Filippo Pozzato is a pathetic whiner. He's always complaining. "I could have won" "I would have won BUT...", "...nobody likes me'... and now this tattoo..." Only God can judge me"....GIVE ME A BREAK, would you, Pippo? .... STOP THE WHINING FOR ONCE! geez.

I rather cyclists like Armstrong, Cancellara, even Contador. They're fighters, not whiners!
