"Despite significant commercial and public sector funding, economic conditions have meant that the additional investment required to make the event viable has not been forthcoming in time for this season," race organiser, Alan Rushton, said.I am definitely going to miss it this year. It's such a wonderful 5 day procycling race that I always look forward to follow. The organizers say that they hope they can get enough sponsors and financial investors for next year event.
From the bottom of my heart, I wish they accomplish what they want and need for the realization of this fantastic race in 2011.

We will probably see a lot more of this sort of thing. The recession has been going for about two years and peoples researves are just not there. We will probably have another year of this before it starts of pick up.

Sad. Love the Tour of Ireland. Love all cycling tours and races. I don't like it when this sort of thing happens to them.
ReplyDeleteI hope Alex is right. :)

ReplyDeleteWe are heading into a Great Global Depression, and Ireland has been hit hard financially. If the organizers want to have the tour next year they will need to look for sponsors in the emerging markets.
