Referring to New York and the US in general, Mr. Celente says:
"...are those homeless people that are popping everywhere an illusion, a mirage?
I respectfully disagree. Going to university is always a great accomplishment and an honor, no matter what degree the student is going for. Not all of us like the same kind of science or have that special ability to pursue certain career. God is my witness, I would have loved to have had the brains to go for physics, instead I have the brains and the heart placed for medical science, so I became a medical doctor and now I have several sub-specialties and post-degrees..
But I would not discourage any young student from pursuing any career they really love, no matter what it is. That is the key for success, to REALLY LOVE what you are studying, otherwise you will be a failure, a failure as a physician, as a business administrator, as a historian or as a lawyer.
Love your career and you will have tremendous success...apathy for your career will make you a pretty mediocre professional, if you don't drop out of university before you graduate.

I agree with Dr. Castro and disagree with Gerald Celente. Education should never be attacked in that way. My son is studying art history and he is just brilliant. My husband and I are so proud of him for what he has accomplished. Art history is what my son has always wanted, since he was a little boy. Now that he's almost done, he'll be graduating with honors. It is sad that Mr. Celente is against these degrees. Sad because there are thousands of teenagers who listen to him.

I was a subscriber of Gerald Celente for 2 years but I didn't renew it for 2010. He was getting too repetitive.
Thank you Doc, for defending education. You rock!
I, too, agree with Dr. Castro that education is very important regardless of the field of study. We need to people to study the past as well as plan for the future, we need people to create art, architecture, write poetry and novels. These skills are sharpened and greatly improved by professors in universities. In these difficult economic times, a university education may not be within reach for many people, so all the more reason we need people studying a variety of subjects so as to keep society moving forward.
