The global financial crisis is affecting all businesses and countries, some more than others, including the medical sector has been hurt tremendously.
South Seminole Hospital is closing its obstetrics unit, because deliveries have gone way down. See, patients now are twice about having more babies amid the recession, many have lost their homes and jobs and have no plans on bringing another member to the family.
"...But since the recession, the number of births has been dropping. In 2009, there were 1,380 babies delivered at the hospital and last year that number decreased to 1,203, according to hospital officials and data from the Health Council of East Central Florida."
"There may be no patients for several days and you have nurses sitting there," Trabin said. "When you're down to a low number like 1,000 births a year, it becomes much more unpredictable."

Cycling Tijuana Baja California Mexico
These are some pictures of my road cycling training in Tijuana last Sunday 23 of January. The day was so beautiful and the sky so blue, it was breathtaking. I decided to take some pics and show them to you. I think I'm gonna take the same path tomorrow, but I don't know yet, rain is in the forecast for Sunday and Monday, in that case I would have to do some indoor training.
This is the top of a 13.8 kms. mountain, with an average of a 9 to 12 inclination.
Trying to take a picture of nature, my bike and myself.
JUST ADMIRING NATURE.

Global Crisis Poverty Inflation Deflation
For anyone who still has his/her head in the sand, here you have some news that might just wake you up and educate you about what is happening in the world.
1. New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is weighing plans to lay off more than 10,000 government workers.
"It's obviously going to be an extreme amount of pain and suffering for families across the state, "said Republican senator on Wednesday evening. "The dark days of the '70s have returned."
Source
2. American Express plans to close a customer service center in Greensboro and eliminate about 1,500 jobs.
Source
3. SPAIN is simply devastated and middle class slips into extreme poverty:
"The crisis is having a devastating effect on the middle class and lower middle class, who gained living standards they took for granted and are now losing," said Ismael Crespo, a political analyst at the Ortega y Gasset Institute.
"The result will be increasing crime for classes not hit by unemployment."
Source
4. The coming MEDICAL DOCTOR SHORTAGE
If you are not married to an MD or you do not have a doctor in your family, you better get prepared, take care of your health now, preventive measures, etc, because there is going to be a shortage of medical doctors. And the quality of medical care provided by the pathetic Universal Health Care in different parts of the world is going to be disgusting and eventually will crumble.
Source
5. Florida Pain Clinics feel the impact of the new state law
6. States Warned of $2 trillion pensions shortfall
7. Texas Dire Fiscal Situation May Lead to Thousands of Layoffs
8. The recession has hit hard Las Vegas. There are parts of Las Vegas now that do seem like a Ghost Town.
Pics of Las Vegas Ghost Towns
How to live happy and prosper in the midst of this chaos? For me the answer is cycling. Cycling helps me to STAY STRONG AND LONG!

Weight Loss Tips for People on a Budget
Needless to say, a lot of people desire to have great-looking, sexy body. Some are willing to spend a fortune just to achieve that great figure. However, you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on weight loss programs, machines, cosmetic surgeries, among other things just to lose weight. In fact, you can lose weight and achieve slim figure and on top of that save money.
Here are some of the ways:
1. Instead of eating out, eat more at your home. By cutting off your dine-out habits, you can save significantly. For example, instead of going to a fine restaurant to have a healthy dinner, go to a nearby supermarket, buy the ingredients, and prepare the healthy vegetable salad by yourself.
2. Keep grocery coupons. Many diet-friendly companies give coupons to shoppers, offering discounts with their products. The idea is, the more coupons you keep, the bigger money you save.
3. Canned goods are as good as frozen ones. This is particularly true for canned vegetables. Most of the nutrient is still retained in canned vegetables, making it a good, budget-friendly choice for those who are in a tight budget.
4. Beans are good. Lentils and legumes are not only very cheap; these are also good for losing weight. These are healthy, low-fat alternative source of protein and carbohydrates.
5. Store brands are fine. Not only that generic, store brands are cheaper, these are also as good as their branded counterparts.
6. Get free exercise manuals. Why buy when you can find these at your local libraries? Of course, you can also look for these things in the Internet.
7. Take a walk in the park. This is a very effective way to lose weight without spending a single cent. It is a relaxing and fun activity, too.
8. Drink one glass of water as soon as you wake up. Keep on drinking water during the day. Keep hydrating yourself. If you prefer, you can add a little bit of lemon juice or the juice of one orange to a 3 lts jar.
9. Count calories. Get the free manuals in the Internet.
10. Walking and/or bicycling make you lose weight for free, without spending hundreds of dollars on the gym.
So who said you have to spend a fortune just to lose weight. By following these helpful tips, you can shed off that unwanted pounds even while saving some money.

Lance Armstrong Doping Scandal Continues
If all these allegations are eventually proven, Lance Armstrong will be a fallen hero, not only because of the cheating, but because the use of testosterone and epitestosterone might have triggered his testicular cancer.
Current allegations:
1. Use of an experimental drug called 'HemAssist' that boosts the ability of the blood to transport oxygen.
2. Using private jets to circumvent airport security that might otherwise detect illegal performance enhancing drugs through routine luggage searches
3. A documented, ongoing relationship with Italian sports performance specialist Dr. Michele Ferrari, who has been linked to other riders who use illegal drugs
4. A lab analysis of one of Mr. Armstrong's urine samples that revealed an abnormal ratios of testosterone and epitestosterone, but which was somehow never introduced as evidence against him.
Lance Armstrong continued his farewell ride at the Tour Down Under yesterday, and when asked once again about the report, he told a reporter: “Dude, are you that stupid? What part of ‘I’m not commenting’ is not clear to you?” That's not the Lance I used to admire.
An Armstrong representative told Reuters on Tuesday night that the American’s legal team had no comment on the matter.
On the road, however, Armstrong finished safely in 42nd place in the main pack as Briton Ben Swift won a bunch sprint to secure Team Sky’s first win in 2011.

Lance Armstrong Doper Cheater Hero
Lance Armstrong has, for long time now, been constantly accused of doping and cheating. As soon as the cycling season starts, so the accusations and scandals. Now, the Sports Illustrated magazine will report in the January 24 issue that Lance was caught with drugs by Swiss customs officials in 2003 and even tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone on three occasions, between June 1993 and July 1996 -- months before he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
Frankly, this is getting too old. As far as I'm concerned, Lance probably did dope, with testosterone before acquiring testicular cancer and EPO when he came back. But he was never caught, never proven guilty. Maybe the tests conducted by UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory, and by Don Catlin, which could not confirm the original positive results and the samples were reported as negative, were corrupted. Who knows?! It's been about 18 years, people. LEAVE IT ALONE!
Can we please go on with more current news and leave loser Floyd Landis lawsuit behind us?
Lance Armstrong is awfully rich. He even owns his own private jet. Floyd Landis is not rich at all. United States of America is going through a terrible financial crisis and Landis is not making any money from cycling nor sponsors. It's obvious what Landis wants: money from Armstrong.
Whatever, I am fed up with all this BS and I am looking forward to learn about the new professional cyclists who are causing sensation this year.

Cancer Council Classic Tour Down Under 2011
Matthew Goss is happening, man. What a wonderful year he is having and I certainly hope he continues to be the one of the best or the best pro-cyclist this season..
He just won the overall Jayco Bay Cycling Race in Australia, he finished second overall in the Cycling Australia Open Road Championships, now, he wins again overall this race.
Amazing cyclist! It is a pleasure to see him compete. He makes me feel alive. Love you, Goss!
NOTE: Lance Armstrong finished #68 at +0:23. My personal opinion: not bad for his age, not bad at all. I hope he keeps on cycling long long time.

Genetically Modified Corn Produces Pesticides

This article from Natural News is extremely interesting and important that we all read, so we can be educated about how damaging to our rivers, streams and ultimately to our own bodies all genetically modified crops/foods are.
That is why my huge backyard is full right now with carrots, lettuce and radishes. I am getting ready the soil to plant next month all my seeds, including tomatoes, squash, green beans, white and yellow corn, natural corn, delicious and free of pesticides.
(NaturalNews) Corn plants genetically modified (GM) to produce pesticides in their tissues are contaminating water supplies across the US Midwest, according to a study conducted by researchers from the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.NaturalNews.com
The study was conducted on corn engineered to carry a gene from the Bacillus thuriengensis (Bt) bacteria that produces an insecticidal protein, Cry1Ab. The researchers tested 217 Indiana streams for traces of Cry1Ab, and pesticide the chemical in 13 percent of them. Every contaminated stream was within 500 meters (1,600 feet) of a corn field.
In the Midwestern "Corn Belt" states of Indiana, Illinois and Iowa, 90 percent of streams and rivers are within 500 meters of a corn field. This amounts to 159,000 miles worth of waterways at risk from Bt corn contamination.
Eighty-six percent of the streams tested in the study contained corn cobs, husks, leaves or stalks.
"Our research adds to the growing body of evidence that corn crop byproducts can be dispersed throughout a stream network, and that the compounds associated with genetically modified crops, such as insecticidal proteins, can enter nearby water bodies," said researcher Emma Rosi-Marshall.
Although this study is among the first to show that the tissues of GM crops can harm the environment after the plant has died, other dangers of GM agriculture have already been well established.
"Genes from genetically modified plants have already been shown to be capable of escaping into the environment and contaminating natural crops," write Michael Murray and Joseph Pizzorno in their book The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods.
"Manipulating genetic material changes the expression of proteins and antigens in foods, a situation that could lead to allergic reactions. ... Another concern is that some GM foods, such as GM corn, are being manipulated to resist synthetic pesticides. As a result, more of the pesticide is being used and humans' exposure to toxic pesticides is actually increasing while insects develop resistance to the pesticides' toxic effects."

New Zealand Road Cycling Christchurch
Road cycling National Championships Christchurch race in New Zealand finished today with incredible results: 53 elite cyclists (men) started the race and only 19 completed it! 34 men cyclists and 11 out of 44 women cyclists abandoned the competition. Amazing that so many couldn't finish. I bet the road course must have been tremendously hard and exhausting.
Congratulations to all of them though!

Global Warming Political Financial Scam
Dr. Pyers Corbyn is a renowned astrophysicist and solar weather forecaster. He is one of the leading skeptics and critics of "global warming science".
Mr. Corbyn is quoted as saying, "Solar, lunar magnetic patterns allow weather prediction." Further, the "Science behind global warming is short-sighted nonsense." Lastly he stated that the, "Impact of human life on climate is trivial compared to nature."
People who believe in global warming "science" are ignorant fools. Global warming believers have no clue about what science is. Global warming science is as fake as my eyelashes on Friday party night.
Please, if you believe on global warming, make yourself a favor and listen carefully to a scientific man talking real science.

STD Human Papilomavirus Genital Warts
The Human Papiloma Virus is very contagious and once it is passed on to the sexual partner it causes a venereal disease known as genital warts, or more correctly, condilomas.
This virus weakens the immune system of the person suffering from it and it could cause uterine cancer if the warts spread into the cervix and endometrium. It could also cause infertility in both, men and women.
EXTERNAL SYMPTOMS
Only 6 million out of the more than 20 million patients have been put through the medical analysis and found positive. The ratio is equal for both men and women, who have been affected with this disease. The person suffering from the virus attack can pass this on to his partner in the form of bumps, either by sexual intercourse affecting the anal and the genital area, or even by oral sex, thereby affecting the mouth and the throat. These small clusters could grow up to be dense in the genital area. Unlike HIV, HPV can spread even during foreplay. This gives cancerous growth in the cervical area. Its visibility in women is there and in men this may not be the case. it's symptoms surfaces on the tip of the penis and the anal area in men.

TREATMENT:
Imiquimod (Aldara) cream helps the body to fight genital warts by boosting the body’s immune response.
Trichloroacetic acid is also useful to burn off genital warts. However, it should never be used at home. TCA treatment should be strictly done in a doctor’s office.
Podophyllin, a plant-based resin, is also commonly used by doctors for genital warts cure. Podofilox, a similar medication, can be safely used as a home remedy of genital wart. The medication is not recommended for pregnant women.
