Dr. Kimberly Wells (Australia) is the newest female elite cyclist champion. I am really happy for her, since she has taken time off from her medical practice schedule to dedicate it to this 2013 cycling season.
We have to take in consideration that she is not making the same amount of money. As a female cyclist she earns only 3 to 5% of what she makes a medical doctor (probably a lot less when we discount all the expenses she has to make to participate, because female cyclists are not fully sponsored as male cyclists are).
There it goes, my total admiration and respect for her as a cyclist medical doctor.
“I’m absolutely over the moon with excitement,” said Wells. “This is the kind of thing you dream about and for it to actually happen – by the skin of my teeth – I am so amazingly happy.”–says Wells to reporters.
